Our Story

A heritage of Quality

Mauri’s story started with a small, family-run business built on craft, relationships and hard work. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Our Journey

More than a century later, that foundation has grown into a business that helps feed the nation, shaped by the people, partnerships and progress that continue to define Mauri today.

Foundations

Our origins trace back to the late 1800s with the establishment of Mauri Brothers and Thomson in 1872. From the outset the focus was simple: supply quality ingredients and support the businesses that rely on them. As the industry evolved, so too did Mauri, expanding into flour milling, yeast production and food manufacturing, while staying closely connected to the people it served.

growth & evolution

Through the decades, Mauri has grown alongside the baking and food industries. New mills were established, yeast plants opened, and the business expanded through acquisitions and partnerships that strengthened both capability and reach.

Key milestones include:

  • Expansion of flour milling operations across Australia
  • Development of yeast production in Australia and New Zealand
  • Integration into George Weston Foods and the broader Associated British Foods network

Each step has added scale and expertise, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and long-term relationships.
